The NMC was established in February 2004 and it functions as an umbrella organization for three existing constituent organizations in The Netherlands that are active in the field of fluid and solid mechanics.
JM Burgers Centre
The JM Burgers Centre is the national research school for fluid mechanics in The Netherlands. It consists of 50 professors with 100 senior scientific staff and up to 400 PhD students and Post-Docs.
Engineering Mechanics is the national research school for Engineering mechanics in The Netherlands. It consists of 25 professors with 50 senior scientific staff and up to 200 PhD students and Post-Docs.
KIVI is the professional association of engineers in the Netherlands, with over 20000 members . The section Mechanics represents all engineering activities in fluid and solid mechanics, focusing on novel technological developments.
